Marklin Trains are AC for 3 rail systems.

Trix Trains are DC for 2 rail systems.

Marklin cars have non insulated wheels for the AC systems, however, wheels can be exchanged for insulated to be used in DC 2 rail systems and vice versa, Trix cars can exchange their wheels for AC non insulated wheels. (Trix cars can work on AC 3 rail layouts without exchanging the wheels if you like)

On the Marklin or Trix catalog you can find the item # that correspond to the set of wheels for you to exchange.

Note that you can also exchange for RP-25 type wheels.

Locomotives can exchange their wheels. You must select the locomotive that corresponds to your system layout.
